link Thieves cut hole in roof and rappel down to steal 20 Apple laptops from a Best Buy, never touching the floor or setting off any motion detectors.

They never touched the floor — that would have set off an alarm. They didn’t appear on store security cameras. They cut a hole in the roof and came in at a spot where the cameras were obscured by advertising banners. They left with some $26,000 in laptop computers, departing the same way they came in — down a gas pipe that runs from the roof to the ground outside the store.

Biggest News from today’s Apple Event

The death of the 17” lappy from Apple’s lineup.   RIP my beloved 17” MacBook Pro.  :(

Oh yeah there was other news like a complete refesh of the whole laptop Line, new Airs, New MacBook Pros including dual graphics cards that you can switch between for performance vs power savings.   All Aluminum one pice sonstruction for even more thiness with added strength through out the line.  New glass track pad supporting multitouch.

All great thinbgs for sure, but I am typing this on a Core Duo 17” macBook Pro and I have been using this format as my primary machine now for more than four years.   I don’t know if I can switch to a 15.4” display or smaller as my primary machine.

But, on the upside, this could raise the resale value for this format, should I decide to make a switch….   But I have no intentions of doing so soon.

This machine is far from the fastest now, it’s not even core2 duo, and it’s maxes out with 2gb of ram.   But it does what I need it to do, and with the economy the way it is, I doubt I will see the value of changing it up soon.

Unless that is, my finacial situation changes unexpectidly….   ;)
